The Futility of Polemics

From time to time, I see rehashed Protestant polemics in Norwegian religious publications against the Catholic Church. Every few months or so, it seems, there is a fresh launching of attacks. It would be easier to take them seriously if they weren’t merely repetitions of the same arguments that capable Catholic theologians have corrected or explained countless times before. Understandably, at a time when there have been many conversions both to the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, it shouldn’t be wholly unexpected that Protestant churches find themselves in a responsive position, although one might think that their anxiety is often exaggerated and their apologetics inaccurate.
