Advent is a time of waiting and expectation. We are invited to reenact the drama of Jesus' birth. The text below is taken from the book Silent Rosary. A Contemplative, Exegetical, and Iconographic Tour through the Mysteries, which features my iconography and text by Addison Hodges Hart. (One can purchase the book online from Amazon or from any major book outlet). Here he shares his insights about the first significant event in the lives of Mary and Jesus. The Annunciation, which is one of the major themes of Advent, allows us to reflect on Mary's deep obedience and union with God when she received the Savior into her own body.
