Kinsarvik church is the oldest church in the Hardanger region of Western Norway. It is situated one hour away from where I live, on the other side of the fjord. It is dated to around 1150, and it replaced an even older wooden structure built circa 1050. This older church was, in other words, built only twenty years after the battle of Stiklestad. The death of Olav Haradson in 1030 is considered the baptism of the nation.
