On the 15th of June, 2023 I delivered two icons to Sandviken Church, a Lutheran church in Bergen. It is a Neo-Gothic structure, erected in 1881. The congregation wanted two classical motifs from the Byzantine tradition, namely “Our Lady of Tenderness” and “Christ Pantocrator.” I ordered traditional panels from Serbian panel-maker, Miroslav Zivanovic. Later still, an oak frame was added, in order to give visual weight to the icons and integrate the wood color to other elements in the church. The man who did this work, Truls Corneliussen, from Bergen, assisted with his expertise mounting the icons on the stone walls.
